My Sister’s Birthday

In early November my sister had her 40th birthday, not a birthday to be missed.  Fortunately, her birthday was on a Sunday and, even more fortunately, I was in the North Carolina mountains near the Georgia border shooting a wedding with Brooke the day before so it was not even a 3-hour drive over to Atlanta to see her on that day.  Tracy had no idea I was coming—Ken and I had planned the surprise.  I just happened to be at the restaurant when they showed up for lunch.  I had been waiting there and then, when Tracy and her family walked in, I walked up them and started hugging my nephews.  Tracy just kind of looked at me nonchalantly and I was thinking, “Man, Ken, you told her??”  But no, Tracy just was thinking I was some lady who happened to kind of look like her sister, and she’s being awfully friendly to my kids…  It took her a few moments, but she finally figured out it was me.  I can’t even tell you how happy I was to be able to spend Tracy’s birthday with her, and it had been far too long since we’d hung out anyways.  We ate lunch at a really nice restaurant in a quaint little town, wandered around an art festival, and then Tracy and I had some time to catch up and check out the shops together.  Afterwards, we headed back to their house for Tracy to open her gifts and eat some cake—the only part of the day I got any pictures of.  It was a short visit, I had to leave the next morning, but packed with lots of q.t.
