HHI Week: Day 6

On Thursday of our week in Hilton Head we went on a dolphin and sea life tour on Zokiak boats.  It was awesome, and so nice to be in small groups.  We actually had to split our group between two boats—everyone came along except Tracy and Ivy—but our boats, for the most part, stayed together.  We saw quite a few dolphins, many were mother and child pairs, the haunted lighthouse on Daufuskie Island, and lots of seabirds in the marshland of that area.  I thought the coolest thing we saw, though, was the naturally-formed oyster wall.  We docked on the oyster wall and the kids actually walked on it.  It looked like a fortress wall yet it had been formed all of oyster shells pushed there by the tides.  We got our beautiful boat tour in, Jonathan and I had a lovely walk on the beach, and then the rain came—it was Hurricane Arthur and we were fortunate it, for the most part, missed HHI.  So, that meant movie and game night!  Honestly, we all needed the downtime by then and it was fun to snuggle in and just hang out.

{so windy and salty out there, i brought my old camera which meant i didn’t have a wide angle—the boat was a little too tight to really get the views i wanted.  i passed my camera to ken at the oyster wall so he could get some photos of our boat.  thanks, ken!}

{and, a little mexican train later in the day.  fun game.}
