HHI Week: Day 7 (4th of July!), Part 1

Our last full day in Hilton Head, the 4th of July, was an amazing day…one of those days that are so wonderful, it’s a great way to end a vacation or, alternatively, leaves you wishing the vacation would never end.  We packed so much fun into one day that I have to split the day into two posts.  The first half of the day we spent on a long bike ride with a stop in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve where we stopped to hike on the boardwalks through the Old Lawton Rice Field and then over to the Indian Shell Ring.  I was pretty amazed by all of the wildlife—mostly bugs, birds, reptiles, and amphibians—we saw on our hikes.  After our bike ride and hikes, we headed home for lunch and then some craft time.  I brought a few activities from home and we had so little rain during our week that we hadn’t had the opportunity to pull them out.  They provided some good downtime before we headed back out for more fun and, of course, looking at what would probably be a late night (again, it was the 4th of July).

{ella was determined to have a dragonfly land on her, too.}

{drew and ella were most enthused about my craft activities.  love drew’s lion face above and ella’s firework marshmallows.}

{ivy had just started crawling in the week or so leading up to our time in hilton head, so the baby legs hadn’t been put into her wardrobe rotation yet (footless socks to protect her knees during all of the rubbing all over the carpet of crawling).  so tracy and nonni improvised and got some men’s argyle socks at walgreens and cut the feet off.  ivy was too cute crawling all over the house in argyles.  she’s gonna’ be trouble soon, though—barely two weeks in to crawling and she was already pulling up to standing! :) }

{blue tongue photo bomb…what happens when you color your marshmallow all over with blue food writer and then eat it right away.  jack had blue tongue, teeth, lips…}
