Lazy Days in December

The beginning of December was kind of lazy for us in that we were in no rush to get our Christmas decorations up.  It honestly took us a full week to complete our tree.  It is a HUGE artificial tree, passed down from my parents who were tired up putting it up just for themselves, and it is definitely a process to fluff the branches, put them up layer by layer, string the tree with 12+ strings of lights and then, of course, decorate it with the boxes and boxes of ornaments we have.  When it’s all said and done, though, it’s beautiful and heartwarming—one souvenir we always get on special vacations is a new Christmas tree ornament, so it’s a walk down memory lane when we decorate our tree—not to mention, the kids both mention every year that decorating the Christmas tree is their absolute favorite Christmas tradition of ours.  This year, just too busy to buckle down and get it all done over a weekend, we literally put the tree up one day, strung the lights up about 3 days later, and then put the ornaments on a few days after that.  I guess the important thing is that it got done…just wait until you hear how long it took us to put the tree away after Christmas.  :)

Some other quiet activities in early December included Ella taking up cross-stitching (she’s working on a Santa Claus here) and Jack (which isn’t limited to early December, actually) devouring more books.  Ella has become an avid reader, too, but I don’t have pictures of it.

And, well, Gator had a lot of lazy days in December…

I love all the bokeh lights from your tree. We missed having a tree last Xmas. So cute that Ella took up cross stitching. I did that when I was her age too. So great that they are avid readers. Hope jacob will be too.
